Here is a link to a video about the ABC model working with grief.

 (Links to an external site.)

Watch the full video (approx 58 mins) and respond to the following questions:

1) What are the primary goals of crisis intervention and what impact does that have on mental health?

2) What therapeutic interactions took place during the session (Identify at least 2)? Define the types of therapeutic interactions and provide, example of when they were used in the session, and describe how the client reacted to their use (after all therapeutic intervention is only effective when clients perceive that it is effective!)

3) Name two other things the clinician did that stuck out to you and briefly describe what stuck out and why you felt it was important or meaningful.

Respond to at least 2 classmates posts! See syllabus for specific details about the first post as well as the two response posts.

Students will watch the Netflix series MAID and write SOAP notes for certain episodes of the series. A SOAP note is a commonly used format often employed by those who work in social services to document what is occurring in a family and for developing a plan to assist the family. Key terms and concepts from the theory/course concepts should be correctly applied throughout the SOAP note when appropriate. You may not use the same theory for more than one SOAP note. A detailed description of this format will be provided. The episodes of the show that will be used for this assignment and the theories you can pick for each note are listed in the table below.  Refer to the course calendar for due dates. You will have an opportunity to practice developing these SOAP notes during class time.
