For this assignment, you are required to apply course content to create positive behavioural change for someone in a physical activity context. You will develop a case that is of particular interest to you or that you feel is a good fit for your chosen or future career. For the case, you then select a theory of behaviour change, and respond to a number of areas related to the content discussed in this class. Your textbook provides you with several examples of situations you may use as a starting point for this assignment.

Specific Guidelines:

  1. Select one of the following theories: Transtheoretical model, Theory of planned behavior, Social cognitive theory, and Self-determination theory,
  2. In at least one page, discuss the theory in depth, using your own words. You need to first summarize the meaning of the theory, and then discuss how this theory will be used to help you create a plan for change with your chosen case.
  3. Outline the case or problem that is the basis for your intervention plan. Include the context of the problem, the behaviours that you intend to change. The case should be a minimum of one paragraph in length.
  4. Describe the skills or tools that you will use in order to facilitate the change process. This could include any of the information discussed in this class.
  5. Discuss the main challenges you envision to facilitating this change.
  6. Outline the key people (i.e., “stakeholders”) who will need to be engaged in this process, along with how you plan to engage them.
  7. Discuss the ethical implications of conducting this change intervention using one of the ethical frameworks discussed in the first chapter of this class.
  8. Summarize the entire case, using concluding statements to bring the entire case together.

Important note about privacy: If you are basing this case on a real person or situation, you must make sure to remove any identifying information.
