  • Download the Week 10 Assignment Template Download Week 10 Assignment Template and use it to complete this assignment.
  • Review Electronic Monitoring of Offenders: An Ethical Review as needed to complete this assignment.
  • Research the technology to solve the problem types detailed in the brief that are often encountered in corrections operations in the areas listed below.
    • Probationer monitoring and accountability.
    • Contraband detection and prevention in prisons.
    • Access control.
    • Officer/Staff safety.

Deliverable

Create a technology briefing for each of the four problem types, using the Week 10 Assignment Template. Make sure to consider and incorporate information from your readings, research, and the Corrections Challenges Briefing video into your work. Do the following for each of your chosen technologies:

  1. Correctly classify the tool and describe how its primary feature(s) and capabilities improve the performance, efficiency, effectiveness, and safety of probation/corrections operations.
  2. Describe 3 accepted policies, rules, or best practices for the use of the technology.
  3. Provide an explanation of a significant (non-ethics-related) downside or concern regarding the technology that would effectively inform a decision to adopt it.
  4. Describe a primary ethical concern associated with your monitoring devices or system. Write at least 3 responses or talking points, that would effectively address the concern.
