SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Fairness, Justice, Equity

Plato focus was idealism. He believed that teachers must guide their students into knowing the truth (Smith, 2020). Teachers must have a higher level of knowledge so they can guide others.

Teachers can use Plato’s beliefs by using the Socratic method. Teachers can ask their students questions to have a deeper meaning of understanding rather than providing answers.

COMMITMENT

Work Ethic,

Committed to the Field of Education

Aristotle’s viewed teachers as important figures in one’s development. Teachers must be role models by embodying wisdom and display examples of how to think and act (Schwartz & Sharpe, 2006)

Teachers can model ethical behavior. Teachers can use wisdom to help assist their students with helping understand the importance of responsibility and integrity. Using real-life scenarios, teachers can help foster students to become well rounded citizens in their communities.

REFLECTION

Critical Analysis, Reform, Progress, Data-based Decisions

Wheeler (2001) states Francis Bacon is known as the father of empiricism which is an approach that broadcasts the importance of observation, and data.

Teachers can use data to drive instruction. For example, teachers can look at exit tickets to determine if a reteach is necessary

INTEGRITY

Ethical Leadership

Immanuel Kant thrives on leadership. Wharne (2022) states that Kant had strong views on morals and self-identity. Through duty, and moral law Immanuel Kant had strong beliefs on integrity.

In the classroom, teachers can use Kant’s philosophy by reminding students as to why having integrity is important. Similar to Aristotle’s view, teachers can model to students’ ethical behavior by following school rules and classroom rules and setting high expectations

PROFESSIONALISM

Effective Problem Solving

John Dewey used pragmatism which is a way handling situation (Smith, 2020 p. 205).

Teachers can use John Dewey’s philosophy to better assist students with problem-solving and critical thinking skills
