Forum: Unit 1.1 DB: Common Terminology

1. Common terminology is one of the key principles of the Incident Command System. It allows for clear and concise communication between the various responding agencies. Briefly discuss an instance when terminology was used by others that you did not understand. How did it impact your ability to communicate or collaborate?  Further, give an example of a response scenario, real or notional, where using common terminology was critical to the success of response operations.

2. After learning about reactive versus proactive response, research and briefly describe a long-term response incident. Assume the role of incident commander for this incident and list at least two proactive measures you would implement to start shifting from a reactive response to a proactive response. Be sure to provide the link to the incident you researched.
