Nella Larsen’s Passing

200 words

For this module’s discussion board, we’ll be discussing
Nella Larsen’s
Passing
. As I mentioned in the Module 4 Lecture on the
Module 4 Required Readings page, these are the questions I encourage you to consider as you discuss this reading on the discussion board: Although the novel is written in third person, we see everything through the lens of Irene’s experiences and thoughts. Is she a reliable “narrator”? How can we define the complicated relationship between Irene and Clare? What are the various ways we can interpret the ending? What do you think is the most accurate interpretation of the ending? How does this novel shed light on the experience of middle-class Black women in the early twentieth century?

Since these discussion boards are our means of interacting with each other,
you should plan to contribute to the discussion board multiple times, either creating a new post or responding to someone else’s.
