Examine the effects of contemporary health policy on providers and consumers, including consideration of continuous quality improvement processes.

Practice and the Workplace

All people need medical care. Stigma, bias, and systematic inequalities in health care settings can hinder individuals from receiving the support and care every patient deserves. In addition, public policies can contribute to social environments, worsening or alleviating the stigma of being a sexual minority.

For this assignment, you will examine the health care laws and policies addressing the LGBTQ+ community.

health care inequalities
and the role of the APN/APRN.

3. Examine the impact on your workplace environment.

4. Explain how diversity, equity, and inclusion impact health outcomes.

5. Identify the role of two possible stakeholders (e.g., individuals, community, health care teams, and policymakers) in collaborative efforts to ensure a diverse and inclusive health care system.

6. Examine how the quality of care for LGBTQ+ individuals is affected by your state’s government funding.

7. Discuss how ethical behaviors in nursing leadership impact health equality and social determinants of health.

8. Identify strategies to prevent personal biases impacting compassionate patient care.
