(like IT, medical records, human resources management, operations, billing, customer service,

be assigned to oversee an area of responsibility for which you must monitor the trends, identify
changes (negative, null or positive), analyze implications to enlighten management about present
challenges and future opportunities then prepare a report highlighting the essential facts that

A knowledge worker is a professional whose primary job involves handling and using knowledge.
Unlike manual workers who perform physical tasks, knowledge workers “think for a living.” They use
their expertise, education, and critical thinking skills to solve problems, create new ideas, and make
decisions.

This assignment will allow you to use your thinking skills and practice being a knowledge
worker. This is what you must do to develop this assignment:

• Choose a topic from the list of topics (below)
• Find two (2) current articles that discuss the topic.
• On separate pages of the same report, write a summary for each article that lists

and briefly describes the critical points. For each key point, please explain why you
think it is essential to your chosen topic.

• At the beginning of each article, write a header that lists the article’s title followed
by an APA citation.

• Following the header, write an Introduction that includes a thesis statement that
clearly states your assumption about the article. (see the documents How to Write
an Introduction and How to Write a Thesis Statement in the folder).

• Write a Conclusion (for each article) that summarizes whether the article supports
or refutes your thesis statement.

o Provide a brief explanation of your conclusion.
