Write a paper using the following guidelines:

  • Review The Joint Commission’s 2024 National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs)
    • both the “Download Chapter” and “Easy-to-Read Versions” (both are attached)
    • Review the documents for the type of facility you are completing your preceptorship in
      • Hospital, Critical Access Hospital, Home Care, or  Nursing Care Center
  • Using what you have read about NPSGs, base your paper on one of the following:
    • A clinical incident that occurred during Preceptorship
    • An incident that varied from the guidelines
    • A situation where you internally questioned if the guidelines were being implemented correctly.

Minimum of 2 pages in length, 12 font, double spaced, 1-inch margins, Times New Roman (5pts)

Locate and describe the facility policy (if any) regarding this situation. If no policy exists, thoroughly describe the key points that should be included in a policy using and citing evidence-based resources. (18pts)

In your estimation, what led to the clinical incident occurring? (18pts)

Describe in detail the outcome of the clinical incident. What negative outcomes could have occurred? (18pts)

Describe what steps you will take as an RN to prevent this type of situation from happening in the future. (18pts)
