READ- The scenario is based on a 65-year-old female that presented to the clinic for insomnia for a few months. She reports fatigue, heat intolerance, weight loss, increase appetite, nervousness, and increased bowel movements. The patient ended up having a thyroid scan, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), and thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI), and free thyroxine (FT4) test done. The patient was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism graves disease. She was prescribed a beta blocker (metoprolol, propranolol), antithyroid medication (methimazole, thioamide), radioactive iodine therapy, and or surgery.

Instructions- Address the following questions:  

1. Both the diagnostic testing and treatments available for this client’s diagnosis can be very expensive. How would your treatment plan change if your client did not have insurance? What resources are available in San Diego to support a client with these diagnostic and treatment needs?  

2. Include the following components: 

a. write 250-300 words in a Microsoft Word document 

b. demonstrate clinical judgment appropriate to the virtual patient scenario

c. cite at least two relevant scholarly source APA 7th edition within 5 years. Reference page needed.

d. communicate with minimal errors in English grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation
