This week we are covering macromolecules (carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids, and lipids), the structure and function of cells, including cellular transport mechanisms.  

Find a news article from the 

Science Daily
( that describes a recent research study that relates to something you found interesting in this week’s readings. The article should be less than 3 years old and not already discussed by another student.   

Include the following in your main response:  

· Formulate a likely hypothesis for this research study (it may not be specifically stated in the article) 

· In 1-2 sentences, summarize in your own words the most important conclusion from the research study.  

· Describe how this research study relates to this week’s BIOL 103 course topics. In your explanation, use at least one direct quote of a passage (one or a few sentences) from this week’s assigned chapters in the textbook, followed by in-text citation.

· Finally, discuss at least one broader implication of this research that was not described in the article. In other words, how do you believe these research findings may impact society, the environment, health, or the world in a positive and/or negative way? Be specific.  

Use the name of the Science Daily article as the title of your post. 

Use in-text citations, and include references in 

APA format
 to the chosen Science Daily article, the textbook, and all other resources used to prepare your response. 

Reply to at least two other classmates’ posts.

Ask a question about the study described and discuss an alternative impact or implication of the findings than the one described by your classmate. Be specific and include enough information so that your classmates can directly understand the link you are making. Cite all sources used in
