 I would like to create a goal statement for admissions into the specialist program at mercer university. It needs to the articulate my motivations for pursuing the program. It needs to include my experience as a 10-year elementary school teacher, teaching kindergarten for 6 years and 2nd grade for 4.5 years. It needs to include good reasons for wanting to advance my studies in teacher leadership and highlight any experiences that have shaped my passion for education and how the program aligns with my career aspirations. 

It should define my short and long-term goals. it should describe how this degree will help me achieve my ambitions. Be specific about what I hope to learn and the impact I wish to make in the field of education.  Lastly, make sure to convey knowledge of Mercer University’s program and how it uniquely fits your educational and professional objectives. Mention any courses or resources that attract you to our community.  

Here is some information about me to help:  My name is Jelisa Miller, I am 36 years old, I am a Christian, a mother of 4 (3 girls, one boy), and a wife. I am currently a 2nd grade teacher. I have 10 years of teaching experience, 2 years in Dekalb county school district, 2 years in Fulton County Schools, and 6 years in Atlanta Public Schools. My goal to position myself in leadership roles such as instructional coach, mentor teacher, department chair, etc. I would like to learn and equip myself and other educators in the district evidence based strategies to improve student learn. I would like to learn more about policy changes to improve education and take the lead in making sure that other educators are more informed. I would like to prepare myself to leader other teachers (new and old), to refine their teaching methods when new practices are required in professional development. I would like to helps teachers stay ahead of emerging educational trends and best practices. During my time at mercer, I would like to connects like-minded educators and leaders who share a passion for improving education. I would also like to offers collaboration opportunities with faculty, policymakers, and administrators.
