Name of Condition

This condition represents a rare/common disease primarily impacting children. This condition manifests as (describe condition and what is found or experienced if the child has condition). Virus or bacteria is involved in the pathogenesis.

The purpose of this paper is to review the condition of “insert condition” and describe manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment modalities in the pediatric patient.

Presentation of Condition

Children with “insert condition here” often display certain signs and symptoms such as “insert signs and symptoms experienced here” and fever.

This disease results from an infection with bacteria/virus (can describe the name of the viral or bacterium OR describe the etiology). This infection results in a “describe presentation”. Is the condition contagious? Describe here.

Diagnosis of Condition

Diagnosis requires evaluation of the patient’s history, including any recent illnesses, and a physical examination. Describe if the diagnosis requires specific testing (lab, xray, or other exams) or if the condition is a clinical diagnosis (diagnosed based on symptoms and physical exam findings). Describe the abnormal findings in diagnostic or serial lab testing.

Treatment of Condition

Pharmacologic Intervention

Describe medical treatment, if indicated. Name the medication used, dosing, and length of treatment. You may also describe common side effects of the medication if indicated. Signs of the condition getting better can also be noted here.

Non-Pharmacologic Intervention

Describe any non-pharmacologic treatments here.

Potential Risks If Left Untreated

Describe what can progress if condition is left untreated or if the treatment plan shows no change in presentation.

Recent Advancements

Advanced research data is described here and can include medications or other treatments. You may also include ways non-medical treatment can help the condition, like diet or access to healthcare for ongoing care like telehealth as an example. (Must cite a reference in this section).
