IDEA ensures that free appropriate public education is available to students with exceptionalities nationwide. It specifies legal guidelines that must be followed regarding special education services. As the educational landscape continues to change, special education teachers must continually advocate for how to best meet the needs of students with exceptionalities and their families.
Using the topic Resources and your own research, consider the historical, philosophical, and sociological factors that have shaped the current practices related to special education services for students with exceptionalities. Think about how the educational landscape and educational environments (i.e., in-person, virtual, hybrid, charter, private, microschools) have changed in the post-pandemic era and determine whether you agree or disagree with the statement below.

Write a 500-750 word persuasive speech intended for an audience of educators who are attending a conference about trends in special education. The speech should include the following and contain references to supporting resources.
- Introduction: Attention-getter, common ground, thesis, and preview
- Body: Problems, causes, and solutions
- Conclusion: Summary of problems and solutions, re-statement of the thesis, and a final statement
- Reference Citations: Cite all supporting research in APA format
