First, after reading Fox and colleagues’ (2011) article, what do you believe is one of the biggest challenges for outside researchers who wish to conduct studies with incarcerated persons? Next, provide a suggestion as to how this obstacle can be overcome. In addition to this, please provide at least one original suggestion of how prison researchers can encourage inmates to participate in their study. Your suggestion should be creative, yet also realistic. Next, after reading and reflecting upon the article, do you believe prison agencies will be more or less likely to allow outside researchers into their facilities to conduct research 20 years from now? Take a position either way and defend it. It must be evident that you have carefully reflected upon the article. And, regarding Marquart’s (1986) article, please point to one aspect of this study that you found to be interesting. Please be sure to explain how this particular aspect of the study contributes to our understanding of correctional facilities. How does Chenault’s ( 2014) qualitative study differ from Marquart’s? In your opinion, which study (Marquart’s or Chenault’s) provides a more meaningful observation of the prison work place from the guard perspective? Fully elaborate. After reading all three articles, identify at least one ethical dilemma that could occur when conducting prison research. Be sure to explain why this dilemma is important, and discuss how it can be resolved or overcome. Again, be sure to elaborate.

Once you have answered all of the above questions, please pose a critical thinking question to the class
