Prompt:

Aim to discuss the argumentation strategies used in the reading. Start a conversation with your initial post, then join the conversation others have started. Keep the convo moving. Contribute to the conversation with something unique. If others have already said what you wanted to say in their initial post, comment in your initial post on what’s been said then add your thoughts so you’re contributing rather than repeating. Imagine we’re all sitting at a table and discussing the reading.

Initial post must:

  • State the purpose and thesis/claim.
  • Identify the elements of argument you find in the essay (warrant, rebuttal, claim, etc). Offer specific examples of each. Are any of the elements missing? How did this affect the argument?
  • Are there any aspects of this essay you admire as a writer? For instance, did you like how the author approached the introduction and find that approach inspiring for your own writing?
  • Are there any aspects of this essay you thought to be weak? How could they be improved?
