Alternative Assessment Project: Rubric (100 Points)

I. Description of Alternative Assessment (25 pts): In a brief paragraph discuss the content area

being covered (Common Core or NC Essential Standard identified) and how this

topic/content is well suited for an alternative form of assessment (compared to traditional

summative exams). Describe the process and the product of the assessment. Should be no

more than 200 words. Examples of Alternative forms of assessment include: presentations,

dioramas, labs, posters, research papers, web pages, podcasts, demonstrations…..

II. Outline of Necessary Daily Lessons (process) (25 pts): Outline the required daily lessons/activity

required to build upon and complete the final product. Detail how many days needed,

required materials (each day), required assistance from home, technology use (computer

labs). What will the students be doing each day and what will be accomplished. A suggested

timeline of sorts.

III. Rubric of Product (50 pts): A grading rubric of final product (presentations, dioramas, labs,

posters, research papers, web pages, podcasts, demonstrations) will be included. Decide

whether aspects of “process” are included. There should be a minimum of 3 areas of grading

(for the product) each on at least three levels (Exceeds, Meets, Below Standard).
