Essay: The Necessity of Standard

Complete this week’s readings and write at least a 500-word essay about the
importance of standards in school counseling. The purpose is to assist you in
understanding the knowledge and skills required to be an effective school counselor
and the challenges you will face.

The introductory paragraph must state why it was necessary to create standards for the
role of a school counselor in the schools. In the body paragraphs, you will list the
CACREP School Counseling Specialty Area Standards (found on page 20 of the
textbook) and The ASCA Standards for School Counselor Programs.

For each of the standards listed, you must address how knowledge of these will impact
you as a better school counselor and professional. You must respond to each standard

individually. Finally, write a summary paragraph of any standards you would like added
to make you more effective.

The essay must be formatted using APA and include a title and reference page. Cite
