1. In line with her professional responsibilities, Althea must first rule out pregnancy before she considers prescribing medication for Jasmine’s nausea. Discuss the delicate balance between respecting patient autonomy and Althea’s responsibility to ensure Jasmine’s well-being. Is it ethical for Althea to be insistent about ruling out pregnancy, even if the patient is resistant?  

2. Althea is new in her role of nurse practioner. Discuss the competencies registered nurses will develop as they becomes a nurse practitioners. Which of these competencies does Althea demonstrate in this scenario?

Write a 1- 2 page paper discussing the following:

1. Review your state’s Advanced Practice Nursing laws and other relevant state laws.

2. Submit a 1 -page paper in which you reflect on:

· The legal action in Jasmine’s case: If you were Jasmine’s healthcare provider (as a practitioner, nurse leader, or nurse educator), how would your values and ethics influence your practice?

· The transition from registered nurse (RN) to nurse practitioner (NP): What new competencies do RNs need to develop as they transition to NPs?

· Which of these competencies does the nurse practitioner student demonstrate in the scenario?

Write a 1page paper discussing the following:

In Episode 3, the conflict between health ethics (what feels morally right in caring for Joan) and health laws and policy put Megan, the nurse leader, at odds with Kenny, Mario, and Flora. While all four are concerned for Joan’s safety and ability to navigate life outside the hospital, Megan and, ultimately, Kenny offer additional perspectives and reasons why the hospital is not the best place to continue her care. How did Flora’s perspective compare to theirs? As nurse leaders, what factors, other than patient advocacy, must Megan and Kenny consider when discerning the best clinical pathway for Joan?

to an external site.) and look for laws in your Florida designed to protect older adults from elder abuse and guide the practice of adult protective services agencies.

Utilize one of the laws and, in a 1- to 2-page paper, discuss how to legally handle this situation.
