I am conducting my assignment on New Horizons of the Treasure Coast, a well-respected Baker Act facility that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient mental health services for both children and adults. The agency also includes a substance abuse unit and a group home. Founded in 1958 by dedicated community members, New Horizons operates on the fundamental principle that quality mental health services should be accessible to everyone in the Treasure Coast, regardless of their financial situation. My focus will be on the Community Children’s Action Program (CAT), an intensive therapeutic initiative funded by grants and rooted in community support. Each client receives tailored assistance from a dedicated team, which includes a mentor, a parent mentor, a case manager, and a therapist.
While consulting for a social services agency like New Horizons of the Treasure Coast, it’s essential to address several ethical considerations to uphold integrity, accountability, and respect for all stakeholders. The foremost priority is safeguarding the confidentiality of clients’ sensitive information. As a consultant, I will implement strict data protection protocols. This includes employing anonymization techniques to ensure that individual client identities remain undisclosed in any documentation or discussions. Access to data will be limited to those involved in the evaluation process, and I will advocate for secure systems for data storage and transmission to prevent unauthorized access.
I am set to interview the Director of Quality Assurance, who brings over 10 years of experience to the agency and played a key role in establishing the CAT team.
