AI-Driven Hiring System

A major corporation implements an AI-driven system to streamline its hiring process. The AI is programmed to analyze resumes and assess candidate suitability based on certain criteria, such as education, experience, and skill set. The system fails to properly accommodate candidates with disabilities, such as those requiring assistive technology or alternative formats for their resumes. As a result, the AI system automatically filters out these candidates, even if they are highly qualified for the position. The company has received complaints from advocacy groups, but the HR team continues to rely on the AI system without any adjustments.

 Requirements:

A.  Discuss an ethical issue in the selected scenario by doing the following:

1.  Identify the selected scenario and describe one ethical issue that occurs.

2.  Discuss the impact of the ethical issue from part A1. Include why the ethical issue is a problem and who is impacted by it.

3.  Explain the role a data privacy, data access, data accuracy, or data security concern played in the selected scenario.  

B.  Apply an ethical framework to the issue described by doing the following:

1.  Apply one of the following ethical frameworks to develop one potential response to the ethical issue identified in part A1:

•   virtue ethics

•   utilitarianism

2.  Explain how the response from part B1 would be similar or different when applying another ethical framework from those listed in part B1 to the same ethical issue.

C.  Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.
