As you begin exploring the history of I/O psychology, you will see that it serves several purposes. First, it will provide an understanding of how contemporary theories and practices came to be. Second, it will also provide insight into mistakes that were made and should be avoided in the future. Third, it will help you understand how economic, social, and political factors have shaped and will continue to shape the discipline.
