Welcome to the 3rd phase of the Research Project.  The goal for this stage is to summarize your sources, especially the information, arguments, or quotes you might use in your paper.
This is a very important and time-consuming step since this will be the only information you are allowed to use for your paper, aside from your own thoughts and analysis.  Thus, this phase amounts to
6% of your final grade

Begin by reading your sources carefully, and then download the Annotated Bibliography Worksheet. .  In this worksheet, you will begin each page with the MLA citation of the source you are summarizing.  You will then summarize each source generally in 200 words or less (400 words or less for Source 1).  Next, you will list up to 5 specific facts, quotes, or statistics from the source that you might use in the paper (up to 10 specifics facts for Source 1).  This does not need to be written with any formal style or formatting as it is essentially your “notes” for each source.  The goal is to record the information you need from your sources in whatever way works best for you.

Once you have completed the worksheet, submit the document to Canvas.
Each source will be graded based on the quality of the summary and information drawn from it.  You do not have to summarize the entire source, only the parts you will rely on for the paper.  I will be looking to see how thoroughly the relevant information is summarized and how well the summaries match the source itself.   Avoid summaries that are too brief and fail to include all the relevant information.  Also avoid summaries that are too long and include unnecessary information for your paper.  Keep the paper outline in mind when you are determining what to include in your summaries.

Resubmissions are not permitted for this assignment, so please make sure to spend adequate time and energy to complete the assignment successfully the first time.
