Each response is 150 wordsResponse 1:It hasn’t been until recently that I have been thinking more and more about what my ideal or dream job would be. It has been quite invigorating thinking about what profession truly makes me happy and how I can find a way to make good money doing it. I am approaching my military retirement and now is the time to consider what that dream job would be and how I would set myself up to attain it.My dream job in a nut shell is owning and operating a bed and breakfast. I don’t think I ever would have thought this would be my dream job looking back but I started thinking about all the things that I love to do and what makes me happy. A few of them being: cooking for others, entertaining, meeting new people, the vision of owning my own business and being my own boss. One day as I pondered on these things it came to me; a bed and breakfast. To be honest, it was that and the litany of lifetime movies and romcoms I have seen in my lifetime. If I was able to own and operate a bed a breakfast I would be able to tap into the local community for an abundance of items and contribute to the community as a whole. I would source all of my toiletries and home items from local small business that make soaps, lotions, oils etc. I would tap into the local artists realm for advice on style and wall art to decorate the home. I would source most ,if not all, of the food & beverages used for the mini restaurant and bar from local farmers, wineries, breweries etc. I would also collaborate with the local entertainment and events coordinators to promote local business, food and bars scenes to all of the visitors who came in to stay. I would modernize the home as much as I could with green energy and also use it as a catalyst for education and conversation. The bed and breakfast would be more than just a place to stay while visiting a new city but a place where you didn’t want to leave because the city came to you.Hugo and Plunkett (2019) explain that most B&B owners implement a plethora of sustainable and socially responsible initiatives to their businesses- Up to 93% of B&B owners recycle, use low energy light bulbs and appliances, purchase locally and use environmentally friendly cleaning products.I feel like this idea could be cut and paste to most cities of attraction but I would love to do this in Tucson or Sedona Arizona or some other not quite so big western city of the US.Response 2:A supply chain manager is a lucrative job position that I greatly admire. Most supply chain managers work in industries such as defense, manufacturing, aerospace, and energy. As a profession in the supply chain department, I would prefer working in a company like iPhone. This is because of my passion for Tech. iPhone is a company well known for developing, designing, and selling computer software, electronics, and equipment. As a supply chain manager, roles include inventory control, transportation, management, analysis. communication, and planning. Inventory control involves generating day to day, weekly and monthly reports, and submitting them to stakeholders to provide actionable insight and data. It also involves conducting a risk assessment on things like supply trends, product perishability, and demand factors. Management involves, measuring and reporting on the effectiveness of each department’s operations and activities. It also involves maintaining safety work standards and procedures. Supply managers develop strategies that improve employee efficiency, service quality, and interdepartmental communication (Supply Chain Manager, 2020).To make decisions in a socially responsible way a supply chain manager needs to have accountability and transparency while carrying out his work. He/ she needs to be compliant and constantly improving his services. A supply chain manager must ensure that the activities of the companies comply with the laws of the local authorities in the area. A supply chain manager must have personal integrity. Integrity entails possessing characters such as morality and honesty. A supply chain managers social and civic responsibility in the logistics and transportation industry includes Ensuring that companies dispose of chemical waste properly. Improper disposal of chemicals can damage the environment. Supply chain managers must also engage stakeholders during this process of ethics (Our commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), 2018).Response 3:or this week’s assignment I first consider my dream job when I was a child, after further consideration I realized that I am currently working in my dream job. My job involves a good combination of office and field work to multiple countries. As a Quality Assurance Representative working for DLA, I am the government representative and subject matter expert at refineries during multimillion-dollar purchases. In addition, I help supply bases, ships, aircrafts with good sources of fuel in the United States and abroad. I previously worked on locations all over Europe and Africa, I am now working in locations in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. In my current position, I’m not directly involved in making decisions in a socially responsible manner, but my agency is continuously looking for environmentally sensible ways to cut waste and build efficient sources of energy. A colleague of mine introduce a practice to recycle used oil and it was highly commended by the agency. Ever since I started working for the US government’s largest supplier of fuel, I noticed my agency is constantly looking for environmentally conscious ways to cut waste, maximize supply chains and build efficient sources of energy. There are often social costs and benefits to alternative fuels such in the case with biofuels and ethanol. Whatever the fuel of the future is from solar to hydrogen it is important to contemplate the social and environmental consequences of such alternatives. Going forward, I will be more considerate about the lessons learned during this week and think more about social and civic ways to be responsible.
