The autonomy is defined as “Self-Rule” wherein the different individuals have the obligation to respect the autonomy of the other individuals. Furthermore, proper respect is required to be provided to the different decisions which are being made by the different people regarding their own lives.  It can be considered as the principle of the human dignity that will be helpful for making their own decisions appropriately. In case of the ethical principle of autonomy, the proper freedom is required to be i

The first type of ethical principle includes the Principle of Respect of Beneficence in which the human beings have obligation to bring about the good aspects in the different actions. There should be different steps which have been taken to balance benefits and risks and rescuing the different persons who are in danger.

Secondly, Respect for Autonomy in which it should be inclusive of norms which includes respect for privacy of other people and obtain consent for intervention through understanding.

Furthermore, Principle of Justice is the obligation to provide the other individuals with whatever the person owns or deserves. There should be fair and equal treatment done to the different individuals who are present in the team.

Lastly, the principle of nonmaleficence which analyses the fact that no harm should be done to other people and in cases wherein harm cannot be avoided, the individuals need to minimize the risks which are present.

For instance- In case, a patient who has had a major bypass surgery may feel like smoking or a patient with fever may refuse to consume medicines. In such scenario, the ethical principle of autonomy creates huge conflict with the duty of of the doctors. In such scenarios, the surgeons need to respect the choice of patients and their autonomy while trying to convince the patient.

In case of autonomy, it can be identified that in case of the individual adults, the autonomous person is the one who is capable of making rational as well as informed decision on their own, however it does not mean that the person will be disobeying the regulations and laws. For instance- There are many instances wherein the governments have separate laws and regulations against child labour. However, in the system of the full kind of autonomy, the children or their families can have the right to work in the factory with total freedom. However, most of the governments try to prevent themselves from the different kinds of behaviour which is seen as immoral and it is considered to be in the best interest of the children.

From the respective instance, it can be identified that autonomy belongs to group wherein the different communities need to govern themselves and make their decisions in a collective manner. The individuals need to make the decisions which will be appropriate for their group and the ideas will be independent and the human related actions are determined entirely by them.
